Is the line between Capitalism and Socialism becoming more blurred? Erika Andersen believes our country is riding the line between government control and free market capitalism … and this might not be such a bad thing. Charting a new course combing favorable aspects of both political systems could create a new form of government that guides the United States into the next century. Creating new job opportunity for the middle class, while preserving wealth and free market sensibility, could be the very definition of a mixed socialism-capitalism combination. Rick Perry Repeatedly Calls Obama a Socialist at GOP Debate
by Joe Citizen on 11:08 am in Socialism
Following similar opinions from his own wife and Michele Bachmann, last night at the GOP debate Rick Perry repeatedly labeled President Obama a socialist. In response to a question about an earlier statement claiming that Obama was a socialist, the GOP moderator asked Governor Perry if he still held those views. The answer was succinct and to the point: “I don’t think that our founding fathers wanted America to be a socialist country. [President Obama] talks about having a more powerful, more centralized, more consuming and costly federal government.”
Earlier in the year Gov. Perry ran a TV ad called “Lazy” that accuses President Obama of socialist policies and demeaning the American people as being “lazy”.
Michele Bachmann Call Obama Socialist in Final Speech
by Joe Citizen on 12:41 pm in Socialism
Rep. Michele Bachmann finally called it quits after a disappointing showing in the Iowa caucus race. She gave her closing remarks at the University of Northern Iowa, taking one last jab at President Obama by claiming that ‘We are unwilling to allow Barak Obama to implement socialist in the United States of America. That will happen on our watch! We won’t let it.” Godspeed, Mrs. Bachmann, and we hope to see you in the headlines soon.
Romney Says Obama is Not a Socialist
by Joe Citizen on 11:43 am in Socialism
In an interview with Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly, Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney responds to a question about Obama’s socialist leanings by saying he is more a “big-goverment liberal Democrat … I’m probably not going to be calling him names so much as calling him a failure.” Is this considered taking the high road or rather a politically astute answer to a baited question. Now he just needs to get the remainder of the Republican party to react equally calm under pressure when asked questions about Obama’s birth certificate or socialist affiliations. Did Rick Perry’s Wife Just Call Obama a Socialist?
by Joe Citizen on 11:02 pm in Welfare State
Oh yes, girlfriend, The Mrs. Anita Perry did indeed GO THERE. She took it to El Presidente Obama by calling him a outright socialist with his nationalized medicine. The First Lady of Texas believes we in this country have “the best health care system”, regardless of its rising premium costs that affect those middle-classers less insulated from increased lifestyle expenses. Mrs. Perry is certainly known for her candor and sharp tongue. Get all the details from those rascals at FoxNews.com.
John Kline: “Obama Student Plan a Mistake”
by Joe Citizen on 11:04 am in Welfare State
John Kline is the Chairman of the House Education Committee and does not approve of President Barack Obama’s recent executive-level decision to ease loan repayment terms for recent college graduates. Kline believes that Obama’s plan will only encourage more extravagant borrowing without forethought for future repayment. Many believes this action was taken due to the stalling of his jobs bill in Congress. Full comments from John Kline at Politico.com.
Phyllis Schlafly: Obama Moving Country Toward Socialism
by Joe Citizen on 11:04 am in Welfare State
Conservative anti-feminist icon Phyllis Schlafly believes that President Barack Obama is leading the country down into the dredges of socialism. “One of the serious problems today is that nearly half of our people are dependent, on whole or in part, on the government for … their living expenses. They don’t pay income taxes.” She believes more should be done to restore jobs in private industry rather than the already bloated public sector. She is also not a fan of the attention-seeking Occupy Wall Street protest demonstrations. Full story at NewsMax.com.
Are Occupy Protests the Start of Socialist Movement?
by Joe Citizen on 9:00 am in Economy
Working class protestors have recently taken to the streets of major metropolitan cities to protest what they see as the inequality of income distribution between the “99% and the 1%”. This populist movement could signal a resurgence in Socialist leanings among the American population. When asked what their demands are, most protestors want a redistribution of wealth, taking from the rich and giving to the poor. This fits right into President Obama’s rhetoric about fighting the ‘fat cats’ of Wall Street in the name of protecting the middle class. While he won’t admit to being a card-carrying Socialist politician, you have to wonder if he’s pleased with the recent turn of popular opinion toward redistribution and economic revolution.
Mitch Daniels: Obama is Not a Socialist
by Joe Citizen on 12:05 pm in Economy
The soon-to-be former Governor of Indiana was quoted as he saying he did not believe President Obama was a socialist politician. That’s not to say that “any Republican who can breathe and speak English couldn’t beat him”, but Governor Daniels focused on keeping the debate civil and not insulting your political rival to gain a quotable sound bite. Daniels was promoting his new book “Keeping the Republic: Saving America By Trusting Americans” and would not respond when questioned about a possible Vice-Presidential run on the GOP ticket in 2012.
Romney Won’t Say If Obama is a Socialist
by Joe Citizen on 10:43 am in Socialism
When pressed at a recent Google debate on whether he thinks President Obama is a socialist, GOP primary candidate Mitt Romney demurred on his answer, replying that ‘ … he’s a big-spending liberal … with political inspiration from Europe’. Newt Gingrich, however, did not hesitate to label the President as a card-carrying member of the Socialist party. Full story at LATimes.com.
Obama on Debt Debate: ‘Wild-Eyed Socialist Position’
by Joe Citizen on 2:14 pm in Government Spending
From his own mouth, the phrase ‘wild-eyed socialist position‘ has sprung forth. Deep in the debt debate, Obama is on the attack to sell his position to the public. Speaker Boehner has been discussing with President Obama about a new arrangement that involves up to $3 trillion in budet cuts and to $1 trillion in brand new revenue. But Boehner said reports that the parties are close to a deal are not true.
”There is no deal,” Boehner said. “There is no agreement in private.”

Obama a Black Nationalist?
by Joe Citizen on 4:41 pm in Communism
The Washington Times colonist Jeffrey Kuhner claims that President Obama is a “black nationalist”, a term that certainly requires some explaining. There is a connection to be made with the Rev. Jerehmiah Wright, who infamously came to the spotlight in the 2008 presidential election. Are Reverand Wright’s rallying cries against “white greed” and “white oppression” indicative of the President’s own personal views? The result is that he appears somewhat strange to American voters; his racial socialist politics are foreign to traditional American tradition. This could be why American voters will turn their backs on Mr. Obama in the 2012 election. Full story at WashingtonTimes.com.
Fox News Editor Unsure About His Obama Socialism Claims
by Joe Citizen on 9:08 am in Socialism
We have previously seen Fox News President Roger Ailes claim that President Obama is an “unsuccessful socialist“. Now another Fox News executive, Bill Sammon, admits that he didn’t really believe Barack Obama was a socialist when in fact he claimed on television that he was. Money quote: “At that time, I have to admit that I went on TV on Fox News and publicly engaged in what I guess was some rather mischievous speculation about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism, a premise that privately I found rather far-fetched.” Full details at HuffingtonPost.com.
Marco Rubio Indirectly Calls Obama a Socialist
by Joe Citizen on 4:50 pm in Socialism
The wording on a recent campaign fundraising letter never directly calls President Obama a socialist, but it comes pretty darn close with the association. Since the dreaded “S” word is all the rage these days, we can only expect to see his type of vitriolic dialogue increase with the 2012 Presidential primary season in the not-to-distant future. With the apparent fate of the free country at stake, according to some, you can expect the full fury of anti-incumbent rhetoric to spring forth. Full story at TampaBay.com.
The Similarities Between Obama and FDR
by Joe Citizen on 3:35 pm in Obama History
Is President Obama really the fringe left-wing socialist leader that he is often accused of being? Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivered his “Rendevouz with Destiny” speech in 1936, proclaiming the business establishment to be “the resolute enemy within our gates”. By this litmus test, President Obama might even be seen as more centrist and pro-business than the Democratic bastion of years past. Full opinion at WSJ.com.
Victoria Jackson from SNL: “Obama is a Communist”
by Joe Citizen on 3:05 pm in Communism
Since we typically turn our ear to Saturday Night Live alumnus for political commentary, Victoria Jackson (the blonde one, rather vapid characters) has now labeled President Obama a communist. She even includes a song on her new album titled “There’s a Communist Living in the White House”. She has even labeled “progressivism” as the new code word for communism”. Political theory aside, and Victoria is certainly an expert, she is throwing around some big words. Full article at CBSNews.com.
Obama Pushes for Nationwide 4G … But At What Cost?
by Joe Citizen on 10:21 am in Government Control
President Obama said today he wanted 98 percent of Americans to have 4G-speed wireless Internet connections within five years, calling it necessary for the United States to remain internationally competitive and “win the future.”
In a speech at Northern Michigan University, President Obama offered details on his administration’s proposal to promote high-speed wireless Internet connections in rural areas, elaborating on a point he made in his State of the Union speech in January. “Every American deserves access to the world’s information,” Obama said today. “Every American deserves access to the global economy. We have promised this for 15 years. It’s time we delivered on that promise.”
But at what cost will this great 4G initiative come about? Does this indicate Obama is in cohorts with the wireless carriers who surely will profit from additional 4G data charges passed on to their customers? We have previously discussed how Obama wants to nationalize the internet and even stuck through a provision allowing him a universal ‘kill switch’ to control the internet.

What Makes Football Great? Socialism.
by Joe Citizen on 9:05 am in Socialism
In a slight deviation from our typical focus on President Obama, I noticed Bill Maher expounding on the merits of socialism in the National Football League. He may have a point that competition is constantly fluctuated based on new draft picks and hot players. This is in contract to the MLB and NBA who, despite imposing salary caps, are still plagued by power house teams that hold a death grip on athletic talent with their infinite supply of money. If Obama “Believes in Socialism”, Then Maybe It’s Working
by Joe Citizen on 4:58 pm in Socialism
Though he decided to sit out the State of the Union address on Tuesday night and instead update Twitter from the safety of his office, Georgia Republican Rep. Paul Broun proclaimed: “Mr. President, you don’t believe in the Constitution. You believe in socialism.” At the same time, the Dow Jones just touched on 12,000 for the first time since the Bush Administration and we have to wonder … if this is socialism, then maybe it’s working.
Bachman says Healthcare Law is “Crown Jewel of Socialism”
by Joe Citizen on 10:31 am in tea party
Michele Bachman, Republican representative from the state of Minnesota, yesterday decried the healthcare reform law as the “crown jewel of socialism“. The new Republican-led House of Representatives is mounting an attempted repeal of ObamaCare. Although Democratic leaders in the Senate have said they will not act on the bill, stunting its progress, Bachmann insists that the vote is not just symbolic: “We aren’t going to just check the box off and say we had one vote and we’re going to move on to other topics.” She said Republicans would work to prevent funding on the bill so it can not be implemented.
